Graciela Iturbide (born in 1942 in Mexico City) is a Mexican photographer interested in highlighting the culture and traditions of contemporary Mexico.
After studying photography at the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos, Iturbide began developing a visual language focused on Indigenous communities, women, and popular rituals. Her work combines documentary and visual poetry, creating images rich in symbolism and emotional intensity.
Her photographs are characterized by dramatic black and white tones, careful composition, and a strong attention to the relationship between the individual, the community, and the landscape.
